Join us... and make a difference

Debbie Walker

Do you believe that social problems demand interdisciplinary solutions?
Are you interested in tackling real world problems?
Do you want to make a difference?

For nearly 100 years, the Global Alliance (formerly the American Orthopsychiatric Association) has played a leading role in developing an understanding of behavioral health concerns in their social context. Our Board of Directors invites you to engage with us in promoting the creation and adoption of policies to address such concerns through research, practice and advocacy.

Why should you join the Global Alliance?

Ryan Kilmer, PhD, Clinical-Community Psychology
One of the qualities of the Global Alliance that sets it apart from other organizations is its focus on doing something....I joined because I resonate with the values -- the emphasis on social justice, the appreciation of diversity, and the  fact that they understand that the complex issues in our society require interdisciplinary solutions.
Kendell Coker, Clinical Psychology and Law
Growing up in the inner city, I developed a passion for social justice and social change...I wanted to see communities thrive, flourish.... I have realized that one way to move in that direction is to join organizations and to form alliances with those who have similar interests, similar passions. The Global Alliance has a commitment to social change, particularly for the least fortunate members of society. This is one of the reasons I joined the organization.
Mary Armstrong, PhD, Social Work
I've been a member of the Global Alliance for about 10 years... I value the fact that it [Global Alliance] includes people from different disciplines, all of whom are concerned about the quality of health services and social justice.

Cynthia Taylor-Handrup, DNP, Nursing
I've been a member since 1985...I'm especially interested in the growing involvement of the Global Alliance in global issues particularly in lower resource countries...the Global Alliance is a place to receive support, to network....

John Sargent, MD, Child Psychiatry
I want to make a difference in a different way….the mission, values and goals of the GA align very closely with my own.

Jacqueline Larson, Graduate Student, Health Psychology
It's been exciting to be a part of a passionate, committed group of individuals who have come together to promote mental health and well-being of vulnerable populations. I've enjoyed seeing how these passions play out in policy, research, and action.
